Her style: Faux fur 3/4 trench coat + liquid leggings + wellington boots + oversized shades. The fact that she wore the liquid leggings in such a casual way was great. Her key item -the one that I liked the most- was the trench, the oversized faux collar was to-die-for. Usually you could find items like that in vintage stores and they are timeless.
His style: I liked the messy look of his skinny jeans with the motorcycle boots (you gotta look closer but the boots tied up at different heights). His scarf and big sports coat balance the slim fit of the jeans. Last but not least his bike is super cool!
For cool rubber boots pls check shopstyle

Pls note his BOAT SHOES with green and white striped socks!! He knew he was drop-dead-gorgeous…
I was doing some research trying to mimic his outfit and these are the stores I recomend:
Cardigan J Crew, Gap
Shirt J Crew, Bloomingdale’s, John Varvatos
Chinos Martin + Osa, Banana Republic
Socks Barneys, J Crew, Thomas Pink
Boat shoes Sebago, Shoebuy, Sperry Top-Sider

H&M did it again. Having a recognized designer to create an exclusive collection for them has become something we wait to see every year. Karl Lagerfeld started in 2004 on a collection that was reported to be sold within an hour. Stella McCartney was 2005’s guest and it was a madhouse: at that time I was attending to school in NYC and we were assigned a project to analyze the launching of the collection. I remember a line that started at 6 am (the store opened at 10am) with girls so excited that grabbed everything as they ran like kids, and the best thing is I was able to buy a light beige trench coat that I still have, wear and LOVE! Viktor & Rolf collaborated in 2006; Madonna and Roberto Cavalli in 2007; Comme des Garçons in 2008 and Matthew Williamson, Jimmy Choo and Sonia Rykiel (lingerie) in 2009.
Living in San Francisco have some perks. I went today to H&M to see the collection French designer Sonia Rykiel -released on Feb 20th- and I saw a lot of items. Nathalie Rykiel -daughter of Sonia- said in H&M magazine that “fashion shouldn’t be so serious. It’s abut having fun, being light-hearted and playing. H&M is all about having fun with fashion, it fits well with Rykiel philosophy”. It was a vibrant collection with chic shapes in hot colors and a boost of graphics captured in shirts, light jackets, soft jumpsuits and fun accessories. Even though I went with the idea to see the “leftovers” I was surprised to see a lot of the pieces I saw previously on the catalog. I tried them on, and I must confess that the fit was slightly off. I am a tall girl (5,11″) and usually wear sz 6 dresses, but on her collection, everything was big. The few pieces I bought were small (believe me I paid them with a BIG smile, and I am about to wear them inside out).
If you are around Union Square please go, don’t forget that is a limited edition collection and price wise is fantastic. Below you will see the prices of the items that are still available:
Blazer — $69.95, Waistcoat — $49.95, Jumpsuit — $69.95, Frill dress — $49.95, Knit tops from 24.95 — $49.95. Fashionable, estilo, modaiolo, à la mode…

Only few guys can pull together a look like this, it requires a certain personality. First, the layering: bright yellow crew neck t-shirt, black fleece zip cardigan and dark green velvet blazer with capri pants, converse and a fedora hat. Frank Sinatra once said “Cock your hat-angles are attitudes”. In this case, he committed to the hat and wore it with confidence.
You could easily find a guide on how to dress in a bookstore, but it will only show you “a recipe” of basics outfits. The point is not to dress as every single magazine or to wear the latest trend, is to mix and match and try to maintain your trade mark. Sense of style is underrated and not everyone has it. The key is in the way you pull what you are wearing and it doesn’t matter the brand or price of what you wear. Usually when you meet someone who really knows about fashion, they say they buy from vintage stores, from some high-end designers and from mass market brands (H&M, Zara, Gap, Uniqlo, etc).

Once I heard that “Pearl is the queen of gems and the gem of queens”. I am a big fan of pearls; actually I don’t think anything is as glamorous as a pearl necklace or earrings. This necklace was exhibited in a shopping center on Bologna/Italy. The interesting thing is that it was sugar-crafted (so it’s fake of course!) and it was the ad for a bakery store – sorry I just thought it was hilarious-. Anyone can wear it for few seconds before it starts melting, but it looks so real! I put aside – the perfectly executed necklace- and tried to think about the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
What was so important about this film was that it was basically a cinematic fashion show for Givenchy, who designed Audrey Hepburn’s gowns. The simple black dress -short or long- looks perfect at a cocktail party or just hanging outside Tiffany’s with pastry and coffee in hand. Also a LBD (little black dress) paired with big dark glasses, pearls, an up-do hairdo and gloves was effortlessly put together.

Could you find anything more inspiring than someone sketching on the park with live music? Not only I was in Florence, enjoying the beautiful city, food, wine and culture but also I had to see this beautiful girl sketching in a bench next to a guy playing the guitar and singing in Italian… simply breathtaking. I tried to take a peak at what she was doing, without any success, but I was able to take some pictures from far away without interrupting her.
Part of the fun of what I do is to imagine how is life of the people I photograph. I am assuming she is going to Art school (the giant moleskine was screaming fashion knowledge). Something with the length of her hair, the bangs and the way she was sketching captured everyone’s eye. Then I went to the other side of the street to take more pictures when I saw her bohemian-bright-colorful- messenger bag and colorful bracelets… it was then when I raised my case, she was going to Art school.
Why her outfit worked? Skinny jeans, bomber jackets and flats are basically holding hands, but the pop colors of the messenger bag and the bracelets makes her special. Long time ago a friend asked to another one if she was depressed, she replied why and the other said: because you are not wearing any accessories! I agree with that statement, accessories are almost everything in an outfit. Ives Saint Laurent once said: Dressing is a way of life.

I love my bike…. If you come to San Francisco you will see me around the city taking pictures. It was awesome to see everyone in Europe riding their bikes. What I liked about them? It’s quite a challenge to explain… besides the obvious things (her boots, leggings and nice tunic dress with a belt) I liked the fact that she had a lot stuff over her bike. Her briefcase, coat and scarf were hanging on the handlebar and usually they land in the shotgun seat of your car.
It is interesting that no matter how were the weather conditions (rainy, cold, hot, slippery, icy, day or night) you will thousands of persons riding happily to their final destination. One of the things that I’ve learned in San Francisco is that life is different when you ride it and that fashion will always adapt.

While walking at the Eiffel Tower you see a lot of people, but among the entire crowed she popped. The boyfriend jeans and blazer with the feminine cotton and lace shirt, booties, Chanel bag and the cardigan around the shoulders made her outfit complete/perfect. Her confidence while walking was amazing –for an instant I wished I had a video camera instead-.

That night I went to dinner and it was impossible not to capture the view. The Eiffel Tower shinned beautifully. I was lucky enough to capture my best friend while he enjoyed the scene. He was wearing a classic white shirt with dark green thin stripes and a perfectly fitted vest. I am not a huge fan of ivory blazers, but in his case it worked great because of the combination of earth tones.

I tend to classify the cities I visit, for example: Paris is chic, London is fearless, New York is stylish, Hong Kong is polished, Buenos Aires is trendy and so forth… To be honest with you my European trip was dedicated to museums and enjoying the city as a local, more than shopping or anything else. I went to incredible restaurants (and I would be more than happy to recommend them).
Few years ago when I was at school, a teacher recommended the book “Chic In Paris: Style Secrets & Best Addresses” by Susan Tabak. When I went to Paris (3 years ago) I took the book with me and went to a lot (if not all) of the stores and streets mentioned. This time, I didn’t wanted to feel like a tourist (even though my ZERO french knowledge was betraying me) and I just wanted to wonder around the different neighborhoods, eat in unknown brasseries and eat nutella crepes every two corners.
Paris was as chic as usual; I saw the most impeccable ladies and gentlemen… but at the end of the day I realized that it got to be that way… when you have a city full of history, beautiful old buildings, museums, exquisite food and wines you expect to see flawless citizens too. The above view is from the Sacré-Coeur (I think you can get my point, right?). It’s something in the air that makes them different.
