Federico: I LOVE YOUR EYEGLASSES! Your accessories are impeccable!
I went to a vintage show and saw hundreds of eyeglasses (from the 18th Century to 1980′s). Eyeglasses certainly add character. When we were kids wearing glasses wasn’t cool, but things have changed. For those of you who are looking for new frames you MUST check out Allyn Scura. As they sell unique, one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, the website doesn’t show a broad assortment as the one you can experience on one of their stands. If you are lucky enough to have a show in your town you should not miss it.

After lunch I was about to order something for dessert, when a friend of mine said NO! We gotta go to Miette for that. Honestly I was thrown away (first because he said that he doesn’t eat sweets and second because we had to walk to get dessert). When we got there I collapsed… I felt as spoiled and greedy as Veruca Salt visiting Willy Wonka’s factory, I wanted everything, I wanted to live there. All of a sudden I could hear the Oompa-Loompas singing Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka the amazing chocolatier! The store is iconic, bright, colorful, impeccable and fun, the overall display will have a 10/10.
Miette’s best sellers are the Macarons, the Carrot Cake Picnicker with Cream Cheese Frosting and the Old Fashion Cupcakes. They also carry tarts, cookies, old-fashion candy, imported and local treats. The chocolates I recommend are Poco Dolce Tiles, which are little chocolate bittersweet squares on 4 different flavors: burnt caramel, ginger, almond and Aztec chile, all topped with grey sea salt. -BEYOND GREAT-. They are sold separately or by the box. Oscar Wilde was absolutely right when he said “I can resist everything except temptation”.
They have 3 stores in SF (Ferry Building, Marina and Hayes Valley) and 1 that will open this fall in Oakland (Jack London Sq). I visited the one located in Hayes Valley -the smaller one-, but the other 2 stores keep the super-delicious-delicate cakes on the fridge (the icing of the cakes is the real deal)
