Miu miu really nailed it! Same dress in 4 (four) magazine covers in just 2 months. That’s what I call a magnificent PR team. The yellow wool flower appliqué dress from Miu Miu’s Fall/Winter 2010-2011 Campaign, was a complete Ad success. The guardian popped the news and since then controversy has been growing. Good news -for Miu Miu- is that the dress was featured in 2 different colors, Vogue UK and W magazine in yellow, while Elle Sweden & Elle UK were consistent with the lilac. W magazine was the trend setter as they released the dress on the July issue. Quite odd that 2 Elle magazines will feature the same dress in the same color, the same month. Usually things like that hardly occur as each international edition have its own regional editor-in-chief trying to create a compelling cover for their own markets.

Wore in the above picture by the American Model Lindsey Wixson on the oficial Miu Miu F/W Campaign. Below is Eva Mendes wearings the tangerine version on W magazine and Freja Beha Erichsen models the same one on the cover of UK Vogue.

Eye just called the LA store and the dress is not available in US stores yet. Fans will have to wait at least 3 weeks to get it. How much it will cost? The store representative said: “Not that much between $2,000 – $3,000″.

We could actually play, who wore it best? Lily Allen (UK Elle), Eva Mendes in the yellow version (W magazine), Freja Beha Erichsen (British Vogue) or Mona Johannesson (Elle Sweden)?

If you are traveling soon you must understand a couple of things:

Gals: high heels are not cool at the airport… it doesn’t matter where you are going, who you are traveling with or who is picking you up at the airport. Comfortable shoes are a must! This doesn’t mean that you need to wear your running shoes (unless you will run a marathon straight from the plane). If you don’t care about the security checkpoint and walking on barefoot my recommendation is Cole Haan flats, but if you feel icky -like I sometimes feel- and prefer to walk with socks your are fine with Converse. Please no sandals or flip flops (even if you are going to Cancun, those could wait!). Items that you shouldn’t forget: cardigan, scarf and a book.

I am always cold! I could be on the hottest city and I have a cardigan shoved in my handbag… It’s inexplicable for me why someone would travel wearing a bermuda, skirt or dress.

Guys: keep it simple. Comfortable T-shirt, jeans and casual shoes. I’ve heard the complain of the shoe laces, if this applies to you, Car Shoes are your way to go. Please NO tank tops.

Wrong! This is not a picture of Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills 90210. This is the new catalog from Zara. As I was browsing through the pictures, my eyes absolutely stopped and my head started playing the famous credit song. I think the 90′s rule and their comeback was expected. I happen to adore net-a-porter.com and I raise my case with their sunglasses selection. Personally I wear my shades every day, I just can’t leave them at home. I am not loyal to a specific brand, I care a lot about the style, fit and lightness. You could find amazing sunglasses at vintage stores, but sometimes they are expensive -and that’s money well spent. The good thing about buying brand new shades is that the design has a ‘twist’ making it more contemporary. Please double check the website, read the descriptions and choose your favorite.

During the last months I’ve been traveling. I went to Europe and South America. Recently, I visited Miami before coming back to SanFran. Not all the cities are designed for bikes. The trend is growing but some cities are not there yet. You already know that I ride my bike and that she is one of my best friends in the world. One-less-car was the beginning of my journey, while watching bike messengers and hipsters was my inspiration and part of my daily routines.

San Francisco is a super friendly city for bikes. It could sound kind of ironic if we take into consideration the steep hills that we usually see in the movies. In reality, we have “The Wiggle” which is one of SF’s most beloved and cherished bike routes and guides through a smooth and flat way between two nasty hills. It even has its own Wiki page.

Moreover, BART (Railroad Train) assigns a spot for bikes so they don’t interfere with the rest of the passengers. If we add that a bike is a fashionably way of living, helps the environment, your health and mind, wouldn’t you switch too?

Spring 90′s revival

Spring 2010 is a flashback to the 90′s. I like so many different things that I thought it would be fun to share them.

Camouflage

Camouflage cargo pants are “the ultimate combat pants”. Understanding that camo-print is not the easiest trend and that it requires a certain personality to pull it off, I think is super cool! Camo could be very feminine if worn properly. The above pants with a basic white tee, cute high heels and few bracelets would make you rock. (Pls note that some items in camouflage prints are NOT acceptable ie: leggings, headbands, underwear)

Chambray Western Shirt

Instead of the jean jkt -that we all wore to DEATH in the 90′s- the western shirt is a great re-emerging item that could be a fun alternative. When I first saw it second thoughts harassed my head. But how do you wear a chambray shirt? Fitted chambray shirts look fresh and polished paired with khakis. Another option would be with distressed shorts, white tank top and short booties; or maybe wear it as an over sized chambray shirt paired with leggings and boots.

Sperry Top Sider

Few of us wore Sperry Top Sider’s on the 90′s, right? Bass, Converse, Nike, Reebok, Adidas, New Balance were among the popular brands. Invented in 1935 by Paul Sperry became popular as they were adopted by the US Navy because of the traditional non marking white out soles. This trend is being around for more than a year and to be honest I kind of dismissed the whole boat shoe phenomenon as a passing hipster trend, but when I saw them in metallic platinum gold my heart stopped beating.

Maybe it was love at first sight, but this are definitely a must have -for the rest of your life-. Great with khakis, jeans, shorts, little cotton dresses or skirts. Available at Sperry Top Sider
