… a glimpse of what's haPpening

up in the air

If you are traveling soon you must understand a couple of things:

Gals: high heels are not cool at the airport… it doesn’t matter where you are going, who you are traveling with or who is picking you up at the airport. Comfortable shoes are a must! This doesn’t mean that you need to wear your running shoes (unless you will run a marathon straight from the plane). If you don’t care about the security checkpoint and walking on barefoot my recommendation is Cole Haan flats, but if you feel icky -like I sometimes feel- and prefer to walk with socks your are fine with Converse. Please no sandals or flip flops (even if you are going to Cancun, those could wait!). Items that you shouldn’t forget: cardiganscarf and a book.

I am always cold! I could be on the hottest city and I have a cardigan shoved in my handbag… It’s inexplicable for me why someone would travel wearing a bermuda, skirt or dress.

Guys: keep it simple. Comfortable T-shirt, jeans and casual shoes. I’ve heard the complain of the shoe laces, if this applies to you, Car Shoes are your way to go. Please NO tank tops.

While walking at the Eiffel Tower you see a lot of people, but among the entire crowed she popped. The boyfriend jeans and blazer with the feminine cotton and lace shirt, booties, Chanel bag and the cardigan around the shoulders made her outfit complete/perfect. Her confidence while walking was amazing –for an instant I wished I had a video camera instead-.

That night I went to dinner and it was impossible not to capture the view. The Eiffel Tower shinned beautifully. I was lucky enough to capture my best friend while he enjoyed the scene. He was wearing a classic white shirt with dark green thin stripes and a perfectly fitted vest. I am not a huge fan of ivory blazers, but in his case it worked great because of the combination of earth tones.

When you sit down in a cool spot and start taking pictures, you realize that at least 40% of the people have the same accessory: A CUP OF COFFEE. It’s true that today the city was slightly chillier, but still. The trend leans to have a coffee while you sit and think or while you rush down the street.

On the first picture I was amazed by her absence… she was just there drinking and thinking (would have paid to be in her head for 5 seconds). The classic trench with the tights and booties made the rest of the picture.

The second guy was rushing down the street. He was cool… oversize headphones? hoody sweatshirt, leather bike jkt and classic Vans are the hippest trend, and he pulled it off in a good way. (To be trendy sometimes sucks).

Gush! Yesterday was chilly in the city. I can’t believe he was standing, smoking his cigarette like if it was 75 degrees. Anyways overall look 10/10. It’s a shame that you could not see it in the picture, but the stitching of the buttons of his shirt is RED. Dunno but like when shirts are not tucked in….

California Academy of Sciences**

For those of you not familiarized with the -awesome- museum, here it goes:

The Academy is now the world’s greenest museum. From the basement to the roof of the Academy’s, the choices behind each element of construction reflect a commitment to energy efficiency, reducing the carbon footprint, and preserving the natural world.

One of the things that I loved the most is that 68% of insulation comes from recycled blue jeans. The walls of the museum are filled with denim scrap; the material helps to save energy and is a safe and sustainable alternative to fiberglass insulation.

We usually have jeans in our closets that we have not worn in years, and we will never wear them again. If you want to get rid of them your options are to donate them to the classic Salvation Army stores, sell them to the thrifty stores OR DONATE THEM FOR INSULATION.

This is my favorite option, aside from being a fantastic way for you to recycle your old jeans, you can take pride in knowing that the insulation created was from your old denim pant. Insulation also keeps buildings warm. Cotton insulation is increasing in popularity as an environmentally preferable option for insulation. Recycled denim insulation holds more heat and absorbs sound better than spun fiberglass insulation.

Where to donate them?

**The museum in the inside is pretty cool too: aquarium, planetarium, rainforest, Island of evolution, African hall and a swamp. After one blink the experience you’ll transform into a kid.

As of now we don’t need X rays anymore… we can wear jeans that will give us the same effect. For all of us who have faith in technology we are getting there… no worries fashion is trying to help.

I move a little bit closer, I move a little bit closer. For reasons unknown.

Trying to do my signature paparazzi style, evidently they caught me. Saw these 2 friends, lying on a wall, having coffee and a cigarette while talking.

What made them so special? His biker leather jacket with the blue shirt half way tucked in, RayBan and shoes + his attitude. Sometimes it is hard for me to explain. Here in San Francisco the overall vibe is different. People are more casual, their style is more laid back.

Usually I’m not the kind of person who likes matchy-matchy, but his tie matching his shirt is just great.

His overall look is cool. That’s it!
